How Invisalign Works

At your complimentary consultation, we will discuss your orthodontic options, including Invisalign.

Invisalign is a series of custom-made invisible aligners that fit perfectly over your teeth. First, a digital model of your teeth is made. Your treatment plan is then customized to move your teeth in the proper order and to the precise degree for them to be perfectly aligned. During the treatment, Invisalign will calculate the steps required to move your teeth from their current position to the planned final position.

Clear plastic aligners are made for each step and are worn for 22 hours per day for 1-2 weeks per aligner. When you finish with one aligner set, you simply move on to the next. You will see results quickly and have your perfect smile in no time!

2-Step Invisalign Treatment Process

Initial Consultation and Assessment

Your treatment begins with a visit to our office, where we’ll conduct an assessment. This includes taking a full set of records (such as X-rays and a digital scan of your mouth) to create a precise digital recreation of your dental structure.

We’ll discuss your dental concerns, identify what needs correction, and understand what’s important to you. Based on this, we’ll provide our professional recommendations tailored to your needs. This step typically takes about half an hour.

Treatment Planning and Invisalign Application

You’ll have a detailed discussion with our treatment coordinator to review your insurance coverage and receive a clear breakdown of benefits and costs.

If you decide on Invisalign, you’ll need to sign a contract to order your custom trays.

Once your trays arrive, you can return to our office to begin your treatment and start your journey toward a better smile!

Invisalign Care Basics

Our Invisalign aligners in Lawrenceville, NJ are a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment, but they still require proper care. Invisalign is worn 20-22 hours per day for 1-2 weeks per aligner. The aligners are removed when eating or drinking anything (except water) and brushing your teeth. Does Invisalign work as well as braces?

For most people, Invisalign works just as effectively and achieves similarly beautiful results — just without the use of visible brackets! Because tooth movement is precise and customized, Invisalign will move your teeth into exactly the right position, saving valuable treatment time. Often, Invisalign can achieve the desired results even faster than braces.

What types of orthodontic issues can Invisalign fix?

Invisalign can correct most orthodontic problems, including crossbite, open bites, crowding, spacing, and underbites. We’ll work with you to customize your treatment for the ideal result.

How much do Invisalign aligners cost?

Treatment time varies depending on your specific orthodontic concern, but it typically takes anywhere from 12-18 months for most patients.

When can I take my clear aligners out?

You can remove your aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing your teeth, or for special occasions. However, it’s important to wear them for the recommended amount of time each day to stay on track with your treatment.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

You should clean your aligners gently with a toothbrush and toothpaste each morning and evening. You can also use a special Invisalign cleaning solution for a more thorough cleaning.

Do clear aligners hurt?

You may experience some mild discomfort when you first start wearing a new set of aligners, but don’t worry – this usually goes away within a few days as your teeth adjust.

Can I eat and drink whatever I want during treatment?

You can eat and drink anything you want while your aligners are out. However, you should avoid drinking hot beverages or eating sticky foods while wearing your aligners.

what a welcoming atmosphere! This is my second time wearing braces and my first as an adult, which can sometimes be challenging, but they have made the process as painless as possible. Dr. Callan is amazing hands down but I think the stars of the show are the ladies who assist him, Abby and Ang. Besides being extremely kind and friendly, they truly go above and beyond to make each person feel special. They have even gone the extra mile for me with just a change of a rubber band color on an off day, but things like that make you, as the patient, feel special to them because they went out of their way when they didn’t have to. Many times, dental visits can feel transactional, but they make each interaction personal by building connections with everyone in their chair, and the best part is that they actually remember you when you come back for each visit. Dr. Callan is an amazing orthodontist. He’s very patient, kind, understanding and friendly. When my kids started there they were both anxious about going and Dr. Callan completely took the anxiety away and now they look forward to seeing him. During appointments he keeps the parent(s) updated about absolutely everything, he takes the time to explain things but more importantly is his relationship with the children. During the visit he talks to the kids about anything, asks about school, any upcoming plans really just talks to build that positive doctor patient relationship at a young age. Choosing him for our children’s orthodontic care was the best decision I could have made. His wife is actually our kids regular dentist too.
